OverviewShijiazhuang University of Economics (SUE) was established in 1953 from the former Xuanhua Geology School. It developed into Hebei University of Geology under the Ministry of Land and Resources of China. In 1985 it moved from Xuanhua, an ancient town northwest of the Great Wall, to Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province. In 1996, the name was changed to Shijiazhuang University of Economics. Since 2000 it is administrated by both the Central Government and the government of Hebei Province, with the provincial government as its main supervisor.School CharacteristicsOver 60 years, SUE has enriched its mission to become people-orientated, advocating compatibility and tolerance. The university has combined its strengths of geology, economics with engineering and management. Now SUE is a university offering seven disciplines: Engineering, Management, Economics, Science, Liberal Arts, Law and Art. The university has 18 schools and 8 research institutes, offering 16 postgraduate programs, 44 undergraduate programs and 14 diploma programs for more than 24,000 students on 4 campuses. SUE has 1454 faculty, 471 of which are professors and associate professors.Geo-science MuseumThe SUE Geo-science Museum, mainly used for teaching and research, is well-known for a large quantity of valuable mineral samples, paleontologic fossils and gems. The Unusual North China Dinosaur Fossil (20m long, 7.5m high), which was discovered, excavated, mended and exhibited by SUE teachers and students over 20 years, is most extraordinary.Monetary & Financial MuseumSUE Monetary & Financial Museum is the first museum of its kind in the colleges and universities of Hebei Province, featuring currency, measuring systems, calculators and banking notes.
