Overview
Shijiazhuang University of Economics (SUE) was established in 1953 from the former Xuanhua Geology School. It developed into Hebei University of Geology under the Ministry of Land and Resources of China. In 1985 it moved from Xuanhua, an ancient town northwest of the Great Wall, to Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province. In 1996, the name was changed to Shijiazhuang University of Economics. Since 2000 it is administrated by both the Central Government and the government of Hebei Province, with the provincial government as its main supervisor.

School Characteristics
Over 60 years, SUE has enriched its mission to become people-orientated, advocating compatibility and tolerance. The university has combined its strengths of geology, economics with engineering and management. Now SUE is a university offering seven disciplines: Engineering, Management, Economics, Science, Liberal Arts, Law and Art. The university has 18 schools and 8 research institutes, offering 16 postgraduate programs, 44 undergraduate programs and 14 diploma programs for more than 24,000 students on 4 campuses. SUE has 1454 faculty, 471 of which are professors and associate professors.

Geo-science Museum
The SUE Geo-science Museum, mainly used for teaching and research, is well-known for a large quantity of valuable mineral samples, paleontologic fossils and gems. The Unusual North China Dinosaur Fossil (20m long, 7.5m high), which was discovered, excavated, mended and exhibited by SUE teachers and students over 20 years, is most extraordinary.

Monetary & Financial Museum
SUE Monetary & Financial Museum is the first museum of its kind in the colleges and universities of Hebei Province, featuring currency, measuring systems, calculators and banking notes. The museum was established with the aims of: actively serving teaching, research and society; offering teaching-and-learning samples and conditions for students majoring in finance, accounting, economics and art design; popularizing currency and finance knowledge; promoting the fine tradition of the Chinese culture; carrying out domestic and international academic exchange; advertising and carrying forward the history, culture and heritage of Shijiazhuang University of Economics.
